Mrs. Kate Hallock, an editor from the Resident Community News, came to the school to write a story about the group's progress and goals. It is very refreshing to see such a positive influence coming from the community as they try and help raise awareness for the importance of our cause. On behalf of the Annie Lytle Preservation Group, we would like to thank Kate and the newspaper for their kind and informative words. January's Progress

The Annie Lytle Preservation Group starts the year off great! Moving full speed ahead, we continue making outstanding improvements!

Over the course of the month, our team has spent day in and day out to make sure that the Annie Lytle School is in tip-top shape.

When the Flag flies, we work! This month we focused on the beautification of the exterior of the school. As you drive by this century old brick building, you'll notice the knee wall is one solid color, just like it should be!

The Group is proud of the accomplishments that have been made in January and it makes us even more motivated for future work days to come!

december's work effort

Loads of work have been made this past month, we are definitely going out with a bang as this year comes to an end! Here is just a little of what we have accomplished:

Thanks to our amazing group members, we have removed tons of debris that has rested in the old hallways for decades.
From wooden flooring to old dry wall, they all have been dragged to the street to be hauled away. By having a ramp built by the great handy man Andy, this task has become so much more easier and effective!
Even if it is not a weekend, that does not stop us! Crew members volunteer more time during the week days posting no trespassing signs, boarding windows,and repairing damaged
fence.
We do this to remind everyone that the building is private property and we do NOT want anyone getting hurt on the premises.

We look forward to a progressive month of work come January and from our family to yours we wish you a blessed New Year and a Happy 2015!

From all the negative news that has been surrounding the police departments all across the country lately, we wanted to say how thankful we our for our own police officers!
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office have been a great help in aiding the restoration of the nearly century old school house. They have been constantly patrolling the grounds at every hour of the day making sure that there are no unexpected visits from anyone not authorized to be on the property. It is awesome to see all the love from our community that is coming together to protect such an incredible piece of Jacksonville's history.

JSO is constantly visiting us on and off of work days showing us support, making sure we are safe, and most importantly protecting the building!

Through enough donations the ALPG was able to get WIRELESS , BATTERY OPERATED cameras hooked up around the school! They're linked to JSO and everything! More and more people are getting caught for trespassing and now we have 24/7 surveillance so don't even think about it!
